UN Principles for Responsible Investment

The Principles for Responsible Investment are a reflection of our Sustainable Investment objectives.

Since their inception, the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Investment have guided Santander Asset Management in the development of our Socially Responsible Investment products and services. Our efforts focus on integrating ESG analysis in the portfolio management process, in fulfilling our duties as shareholders of the companies in which we invest, and in the responsibility of universalising and disseminating this type of investment within the financial sector and throughout society at large.

What are the UN Principles for Responsible Investment?

The Principles for Responsible Investment (or PRI) constitute an initiative developed by the United Nations with the goal of providing a structural framework for the incorporation of ESG criteria in decision making and asset management processes. The principles are not mandatory but voluntary; they help promote dialogue and exchange between investors and companies, creating a global reference forum on the issue of Socially Responsible Investment, which serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas, resources, collaboration and learning about other initiatives and practices.

The Principles have more than 975 signatories across the globe, including major international management firms.
