Investment Process

The European Equity disciplined investment process consists of three key pillars: idea generation, fundamental research and finally portfolio construction as illustrated in the diagram below.

We adopt a flexible approach to the sourcing of ideas as well as the type of ideas that are considered, whether these are bottom up, top down or opportunistic and engage in a continuous debate and reassessment to ensure that the best mix of stock specific opportunities are selected for our portfolios at any particular time.

The Team

Jose Antonio Montero de Espinosa

José Antonio Montero de Espinosa joined Santander Asset Management in July 2001. He has worked as a Buy-side Analyst in the European and North American financial sectors and is currently Manager of the Equity Euro Zone funds since 2008 and of the Spanish Equity funds since October 2014. He has 19 years' financial experience. Before joining Santander Asset Management, he worked as a Spanish financial sector Sell-side Analyst at ACF (the investment bank division of Spanish savings banks) for three years. Previously, he worked as a Financial Institutions Auditor and Consultant during three years in Arthur Andersen. He holds a BA in Business Administration from ICADE (Universidad de Comillas) and is a CFA Charterholder.
